Mahmoud A. ElSohly, Ph.D., BCFE, BCFM

Dr. ElSohly is President and Laboratory Director of ELI. He also serves as Research Professor in the National Center for Natural Products Research and Professor of Pharmaceutics at the University of Mississippi, where he directs the NIDA Marijuana Project.

He earned degrees from Cairo University and the University of Pittsburgh, holds more than 30 patents, has authored more than 250 scholarly articles, and has delivered more than 200 scientific presentations.

Timothy P. Murphy

Laboratory Manager / Certifying Scientist

Timothy P. Murphy

A graduate of Colby College, Mr. Murphy joined ELI in 1991. He serves as Laboratory Manager, Certifying Scientist, and Alternate Responsible Person.

He has participated in research projects including cannabis fingerprint development and analytical method development for drugs of abuse in meconium and other biological specimens, and he oversees forensic and reference work in the analytical laboratory.

Waseem Gul

Associate Director of Research

Waseem Gul, Ph.D., C. Chem

Dr. Gul is responsible for synthesis of standards, internal standards, and new chemical entities, as well as development of analytical procedures for drugs and metabolites in biological specimens.

His background includes degrees from the University of Peshawar and Gomal University, research work carried out at the University of Calgary, and more than 50 scientific publications with over 70 presentations.

Kareem M. ElSohly

Vice President of Operations

Kareem M. ElSohly, M.B.A.

Kareem ElSohly joined ELI in 2005 and worked across the forensic laboratory, research laboratory, and production operations before moving into executive leadership.

His responsibilities include planning, directing, coordinating, and overseeing laboratory operations while supporting efficient systems for current and future needs.
